ARTICLE XI: 10. OUTSIDE FIRES, OPEN FIRES AND FIRE PITS:
No fires are allowed outside of the dwelling structure in Rainbow Valley except those described in the last paragraph of this section. This includes, but is not limited to, open fires, bonfires, trash barrel fires, campfires, outdoor fireplaces, grass fires, slash burning, and any similar fire activities, fire sites, or fireworks, including sparklers. Obtaining a burn permit from Teller County does not rescind or replace these restrictions. No fire pits of any kind regardless of design, other than propane or natural gas, are allowed on any property, either private or common, including those that meet manufacturer safety standards or as permitted by Teller County. These Policies, Rules and Regulations supersede Teller County’s guidelines. Infraction for initial violations and any subsequent violations may be fined up to $2,000.00. Allowed outdoor items: (a) propane or natural gas: grills, fire pits, fireplaces and patio heaters; (b) covered charcoal grills; and (c) contained smokers; except during Stage II burn bans: Teller County Office of Emergency Management

Fireworks of any kind, INCLUDING SPARKLERS, are ABSOLUTELY PROHIBITED in Rainbow Valley! Sparks could easily ignite dry pine needles and grasses. Wildlife and pets are often traumatized by fireworks.
Covered barbecue grills are permitted UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS.Teller County has strict regulations during its burn bans, including the use of barbecue grills. Go to the Teller County website at http://www.co.teller.co.us/ to see fire ban information before lighting your barbecue.
Always carefully monitor your grill while using it and have a hose and water readily available...just in case.
Although Teller County may permit them, screened fireplaces that burn wood are prohibited in Rainbow Valley! Propane or gas fireplaces are permitted WITH CAUTION. Go to the Teller County website at http://www.co.teller.co.us/ to see burn ban information before lighting a gas or propane fireplace.

Although Teller County may permit them, fire pits are PROHIBITED in Rainbow Valley - even when the fire is contained within rocks, metal or bricks!
Although Teller County may permit them, campfires are PROHIBITED in Rainbow Valley! Last year's seven-acre wildfire off of Rampart Range Road started when the wind ignited pine needles adjacent to a campfire that had been left warm.
Open burning of slash or trash is PROHIBITED in Rainbow Valley! Our summer and fall whether is windy and warm. A wildfire could easily be ignite from burning slash. The RVPOA Board provides free dumpsters at least 3 times each year to get rid of slash and household goods.
